Copper is one of the oldest known metals manipulated by man. Still sought after for its rich warm properties, copper is used by man to produce decorative arts for the home and office.
Harper's work is unique in its form, patinas, and finish. The whimsical, yet sophisticated forms are unique to Harper's style. The sheet metal is raised with silver smithing hammers, pounded and folded from behind, forcing the metal into the desired form.
Colorful patinas are a strong design feature in Harper's work. Chemical applications together with heat produce varied surface colors. The finished art work is sealed, eliminating the usual metal maintenance. From a high polished surface to a surface darkened by heat application, the variations seem to be endless.
